              Regular Meeting Shell Rock City Council

                                  January 3, 2012

 

              Larry Young, Donald Bonzer, Rosalee Meyer, and Edward Willert were sworn into office prior to the council meeting.

 

              Mayor Larry Young called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Council members Donald Bonzer, Benjamin DeWitt, James DeWitt, Rosalee Meyer, and Edward Willert were present.  There were five others present.

 

              Motion by James DeWitt seconded by Meyer to approve the agenda with any additions.  Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Meyer, and Willert.  Nays-None.  Motion carried.

 

              Motion by Meyer seconded by James DeWitt to approve the consent agenda that included:  Minutes of December 6, 2011, Payment of the Bills, and the Financial Reports for the month of November, 2011.  Roll Call Vote:  Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Meyer, and Willert.  Nays-None.  Motion carried.

 

              Mayor Young made the following appointments for the 2012 calendar year:

              Mayor Pro Tem – Benjamin DeWitt

              Police Chief – Louis Staudt

              City Property – Donald Bonzer, Edward Willert

              City Clean Up – Donald Bonzer, Rosalee Meyer

              Employee Relations – Donald Bonzer, Benjamin DeWitt

              Finance – James DeWitt, Rosalee Meyer

              Street – Benjamin DeWitt, James DeWitt

              Tree – Rosalee Meyer, Edward Willert, Mike Tellinghuisen

              Water/Sewer – James DeWitt, Edward Willert

 

              Mayor Young appointed Robert Greenlee to the Solid Waste Commission.  Motion by Benjamin DeWitt seconded by Bonzer to approve the appointment of Robert Greenlee to the Butler County Solid Waste Commission.  Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Meyer, and Willert.  Nays-None.  Motion carried.

 

              Motion by Benjamin DeWitt seconded by Meyer to approve the following appointments for the 2012 calendar year:

              City Attorneys – Karl Nelson and Bruce Toenjes

              City Clerk/Treasurer – Marilyn Hardee

              City Depository – Security State Bank

              City Newspaper – Waverly Newspapers

              Fire Chief – Dwayne Sessler

              First Responder Crew Chief – David Green

              Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Meyer, and Willert.  Nays-None.  Motion carried.

              The Police Chief, the City Clerk, and the Fire Chief were all immediately sworn into office.

 

              Mayor Young scheduled the budget meetings for January 16, 18, 23, and 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall.

 

              Mike Tellinghuisen updated the council on the progress of the Cherry Street Bridge construction.

 

Council discussed the employee’s health insurance benefits.

 

Motion by Meyer seconded by James DeWitt to adjourn at 7:43 p.m.  Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Meyer, and Willert.  Nays-None.  Motion carried.
