Regular Meeting Shell Rock City Council
October 4, 2011
Mayor Larry Young called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance. Council members Donald Bonzer, Benjamin DeWitt, James DeWitt, Glen Kliebenstein, and Rosalee Meyer were present. There were seven people in the audience.
Motion by James DeWitt seconded by Kliebenstein to approve the agenda with any additions. Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Kliebenstein, and Meyer. Nays-None. Motion carried.
Motion by James DeWitt seconded by Meyer to approve the consent agenda that included: Minutes of September 6 & 12, 2011, Payment of the Bills, and the Financial Reports for the month of August, 2011. Roll Call Vote: Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Kliebenstein, and Meyer. Nays-None. Motion carried.
The Boyd Building Committee reported that they have ordered new tables for the auditorium from the proceeds of the concession stand and the Butler County Community Foundation Grant. Motion by Kliebenstein seconded by James DeWitt to donate the old banquet tables to the Shell Rock Veteran’s Memorial Committee to be sold at their auction November 5, 2011. Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Kliebenstein, and Meyer. Nays-None. Motion carried.
Fire Chief Dwayne Sessler was present and discussed the future plans for a new fire station. The Fire Department will meet with representatives from all of the Fire Townships served by Shell Rock Fire Department and then meet back with the council.
Motion by Benjamin DeWitt seconded by Bonzer to appoint Chris Blau and Jolene Swain to the Library Board with their term to expire June 30, 2016 and Barbara Renning to the Library Board with her term to expire June 30, 2015. Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Kliebenstein, and Meyer. Nays-None. Motion carried.
Motion by Bonzer seconded by Kliebenstein to reappoint Catherine Avery to the Planning and Zoning Commission with her term to expire August 31, 2016. Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Kliebenstein, and Meyer. Nays-None. Motion carried.
Motion by Benjamin DeWitt seconded by Kliebenstein to approve the payment of the city’s share of the resurfacing of County Road T-63 and part of Wrangler Road to the Butler County Engineer for work to be completed next summer. Roll Call Vote: Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Kliebenstein, and Meyer. Nays-None. Motion carried.
Motion by Kliebenstein seconded by Meyer to approve the Partial Payment Estimate No. 6 to Minnowa Construction in the amount of $158,039.49. Roll Call Vote: Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Kliebenstein, and Meyer. Nays-None. Motion carried.
Motion by James DeWitt seconded by Meyer to adjourn at 8:05 p.m. Ayes-Bonzer, B. DeWitt, J. DeWitt, Kliebenstein, and Meyer. Nays-None. Motion carried.
